Default Need Help Identifying the Year/Type

I really need help identifying the age and year of this Yamaha golf cart I just purchased. I checked the back bumper and found this # J10-78168-00-A1. When I look up the numbers I can't find them. J10 also seems to go with gas models, but my cart is electric. I attached pictures to help identify. My plan is to get this thing street legal so I can drive it around my town and to work (I work less than a mile from my house). Thanks for your help.

Welcome to BGW Since your G1 has a seat assembly that tilt's (witch wasn't available till the 1984 model year) the serial number should start with J36-then 6 numbers. The serial # will be stamped on the main frame member (rectangular tube) that the bumper brackets bolt to. May need a wet towel and a flash lite to find it. Good luck with your new toy!

Thanks for the information. I was able to find this # J36-011047. When I go to the Yamaha serial # charts the closest I find is J36-011212. Any suggestions?

Looks like a G1-EM 86 model. Maybe?
