Starter/Generator wires
I recently purchased a Yamaha G8 and I'm trying to get all the kinks worked out. I was reading through the "stickys" and came across one with wiring for the starter/generator.
It read F2 (front of st/gen) connects to short pos. cable coming off the solinoid A1 (passenger side bottom) connects to the neg. side of battery A2 (passenger side top) wraps around to the back of the starter/generator to F1 (small red cable from side to back of st/gen.) Now when I look at mine, it's completely different. Mine is F2 (front) has a long red wire going, well nowhere and one that goes to negative on battery A1 (pass side bottom) has red wire going to solenoid(front side post) with a small looks to be brown wire as well. A2 (pass side top) red wire wraps to back side (guess one is correct) but it also has small black attached to A2 that's looks to feed into main harness. Can someone clarify for me? |

Re: Starter/Generator wires
You really need to go up to the stickies and go to the one containing wiring diagrams. You can then download and make a copy of the wiring diagram for your G8. With that you should be able to clean things up . Good luck - RAY

Re: Starter/Generator wires
Drew, I can tell you , that wire that doesn't go anywhere, shouldn't even be there! Remove it completely. My car is 125 mi. away, but I can help you then, if you still need it.

Re: Starter/Generator wires
I'll take all the extra help I can get when it comes to wiring. I've studied the diagram, but I'm more of a visual/picture person when it comes to wiring instead of looking at something with a bunch of lines going everywhere. I'm sure it's simpler than I make it to be. Something on a smaller scale I have no problem with, such as lights etc. thanks again

Drew, go to the G8 club. Those guys have their cars in front of them right now, and can tell you how their wired right now! Cajun will be very up to date on this subject presently!
Not a joke, Caj!! or G1/G9 will know as well! Curti, another good one!! |
