Default 1979 Yamaha G1 won't move

Hi there, I've got a 1979 g1 and we can't get it to move on its own. We had it running and took it around the block a few times, but once we got into the driveway up a slight incline, it died. It won't start in forward or reverse under its own power, only when we push start it. We think that the brakes might be locked up because it is a real pain to push it now. Also, when we put it up on jack stands, the motor turns very slowly but still not enough to make the wheels spin. Advice would be helpful! Thanks.
