Default G16 motor lurching when slowing down

Hey guys,

Recently bought a 2001 G16 48vt cart, batts are 2011's and have been working fine, the past two months or so I have had her.

Last week I jacked up the front end to do some maintenance and (foolishly) didn't disconnect the battery until it was up on the jacks.

Went for a round today and the cart has plenty of power and speed, but when rolling to a stop (no acceleration or brake pedal depressed) the cart shudders and sometimes it locked up and sounded the alarm (the same way it does when if parked on a hill it would beep when rolling back).

Seems to have no problem when accelerating.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Bails.

I think the speed sensor may be problem. There is a small steel plate on the aluminum endcap on the motor. I think it has two short screws. If you remove a screw and its about an inch long, STOP, PUT IT BACK NOW. The long screws hold the bearing retainer ring, which you dont want to remove unless you want to remove and dissasemble the motor. Once you have the sensor unplugged and the small cover removed. Use a mirror to look for debris stuck to the magnet or sensor, or a loose magnet. You can test the cart with the sensor unhooked or removed to see if it works without the sensor hooked up.
