It's just a ring magnet. It's got several poles no teeth. It is used as a tachometer to limit the motor RPM and to tell if the cart is moving.

This is the setup which the magnet came from, this is why I'm puzzled about the geared spindle and magnet?

The more pics and details you post, the more that magnet i listed looks right....i have done many. I worked at the dealer i am at now when that thing was new. Sorry, we dont ship overseas.

Ok I'll order one, I have little to no experience with these carts, or any cart for that matter, I've read somewhere that these carts can be run without them, but I'm assuming that would be a bad thing for the motor?

The cart will act "weird" for lack of a better term (odd jerking, inconsistent acceleration). The anti-rollaway feature won't work either.
