Default 3 wire connection for regen break

I was reading on some other post about disconnection of the 3 wire connection for what I assume is regen breaking? Another poster indicated if you do this you might get poor performance, like jerky ride.

I just picked up a 2009 electric Yamaha drive and I did notice some of this "jerky" performance in the cart. Is there an easy way to check to see if this 3 wire connection is in place?

Thanks

Look at end of motor NOT bolted to axle (aluminum "cap"). Red, black, and green wire with white plug. Hooked to any thing, or not?

2009 would be hitachi motor, you can remove the 4 bolts on the white tach sensor (8mm), remove it (will pop off in your hand), inspect magnet (blown to pieces?)

Will I be able to get that piece back in? Is this an easily replaced part?

Thanks for your input

If the magnet is broken, it must be replaced, a glue-together repair will come apart soon. The sensor is easily reinstalled.

Is the four bolts you mention on the motor? Not sure what the white tach sensor is?

Also can you direct me where to get this part and what it is specifically called?

Thanks

I disconnected mine, only time it will jerk is if you r going up hill and it isn't really that bad, the extra speed is nice.
