Default ydre rear axle grinding noise

My 2008 YDRE has a rhythmic speed sensitive grinding noise eminating from the rear end when the cart is moving (coast/float condition), but not under acceleration load. Replaced with fresh oil to no avail. Have removed motor, but see no problems at that interface.

Sounds like a bad rear gear!

Could be the gears but they also get some play in the input shaft bushing. If you have the motor off, look inside the shaft and there is a little rubber bushing down in there. Pull it out, put 2 pennies in, then the bushing and a little bit of grease. Play is gone and possibly your growling will be too

I have bought the replacement bushing. Are the two pennies a good idea with a new bushing? Both spline ends show wear. I plan on replacing the input shaft also, as this is the cheaper component than the motor side.

I would skip the pennies. The new bushing is actually sometimes too long. When you put the motor back on, if you have more than 1/8" gap between the motor and axle flange before you put the bolts on, the bushing will need trimmed. Do not trim from the end the taper is on, it needs the taper to center the input shaft and armature.

Replaced the input shaft to transaxle that had a worn spline, and inserted the new rubber bushing with high temperature grease. Everything is fine. The spline shaft on the motor was worn also, but that fix was too expensive. I'll see how long this fix works. Thanks for all the supporting posts.

Cam anyone provide the part number for the rubber bushing, or is it the grommet?
