Default electric motor trouble shooting

Happy Holidays to all, My son rode my ezgo txt electric cart to the bus stop yesterday. When he got home and tried to bring cart back to the house it wouldn't move. This cart has been upgraded, alltrax controller, 500amp solenoid, 48v battery pak (6-8v). The voltage at the controller after solenoid clicks is 49.9. So all of that info what should I be looking for at the motor. My guess is the motor is done (stock motor). I would like to confirm before I start spending money.

Thanks for any help,

Is it a stock 36 volt motor? Were you running the motor on the full 500 amps? does the solenoid click when you press the go pedal? Is this cart a series drive, or PDS

You can check the motor for a short.
Label & disconnect all 4 cables.
With voltmeter set to Ω or continuity;
there should be continuity between the 2 S terminals and between 2 A terminals but not between any A and S terminal.

Rib33024- yes stock motor. Yes, on the amps, yes solenoid does click and its a series cart.

Hey scottyb thanks all the equipment has been working great. Thanks for the continuity info. I'll be working on it after Christmas.

Thanks guys all info is appreciated

Update, had a few minutes so I did the continuity test and it has continuity between A1 and A2 .06 resistance. Same between S1 and S2 terminals none between A and S terminals. I have to ask what next? thought for sure that would determine my issue...

Is the LED on the Alltrax controller flashing any error codes?

Which series controller is it, AXE or a SPM? (They have different error codes)

-----------
Connect your DVM between the controller's B- and M- terminals.

Push the pedal just far enough to get solenoid to click and you should read FULL battery pack Voltage.
(What it reads before solenoid clicks isn't important.)
(You said it was 49.99V earlier, but it may have changed, so verify what the pack voltage is.)

If you do not get full battery pack voltage, there is a problem in the high current cables, connection or contacts.
The most likely suspect is the F/R switch's high current contacts, but could be something else.
Trace the high current wires back towards the B+ terminal on the battery pack until you find the voltage and between the first point with voltage and the last point without it lies the problem.

If you do get full battery pack voltage, slowly press the pedal to the floor (rear wheels off ground for safety) and the voltage should smoothly decrease to Zero.

If it doesn't, check the throttle input to the controller.
Connect DVM between black and white wires from pedal box. (I don't know which Alltrax controller you have, so I cannot give you the pin numbers)

Should be 10V when solenoid clicks and 6V when pedal is on floor.

--------
Get back to us with what you find and we'll proceed from there.

Jonnieb,
It is an spm controler. Where I have it mounted it is difficult to see the led. However after you asked and it got dark I went to check. It is flashing green then red. It started raining here so I didn't get a number of green vs red flashing. I assume that is not a good thing. Your assessment. Thank you

Not all SPM Blink Codes point to problems internal to the controller.

Use a mirror or do a headstand and count the green and red flashes.

I took a closer look at your post#6 and a red flag waved:
1. it has continuity between A1 and A2 .06 resistance.
2. Same between S1 and S2 terminals
3. none between A and S terminals.

1. & 2. I'm not all that familiar with the DC resistance of series motors, but 0.06Ω seems mighty low to me. The SPM controller may be seeing it as a short circuit. (1-Green / 1 Red error code)

3. Does "none" mean Zero Ohms or Infinite Ohms? (Semantics - the statement can be interpreted either way.)

-----------
The first thing to do it get the SPM controller happy (4 Green followed by Steady Green)

JONNIEB,
Between M- & B- when solenoid clicks I get full voltage but the voltage dose not decresa.to zero as you depress the pedal the voltage does not change.
At the white and black wires from pedal box it starts at 20.3 v and as pedal is depressed goes to 10.6 v.

LED- inital solenoid click 4 green pause 2 green 3 red repetitive
