Do you have a 48 volt charger? Is your controller and solenoid rated for 48 volts?

Hey, i switched my 36v marathon to 48v without changing the contactor or controller. It worked out great for about a month or 2. Cart got very "gutless", same top speed if you had about a mile to get up to speed. Wouldnt climb over a 1" high sidewalk. Not advising it, just laughing at my follies. I knew what i was doing/risking, i had another controller waiting, just wanted to see...

Hey guys

Yes my solenoid and controller are rated for 48v. I'm still going to use a 36v charger and a 12v car charger for the time being. I had to change the pre charged resistor to a 48v but that was it. My 500A alltrax controller was already programed for the voltage. I got it all hooked up yesterday and didn't notice a change in top speed. It sure gets to that top speed a lot faster though!!!!

If you did not see an increase in top speed, the voltage applied to the motor did not increase either. Or thats my opinion.

A 94 Medalist is a series drive, so going from 36V to 48V you should have seen about a 33% increase in speed as well about a 33% increase in torque.

Yeah you guys are right. I didn't really realize it until i went up against my neighbors 36v club car lol. Top speed is faster, really notice a difference going up hills. Very happy with this upgrade!!
