Yep, Fuse is typically set for wire size, not device connected to it. I didnt have amp rating handy for tiny wire gauges, but 22ga is likely a 5a fuse. I shall promptly be called to task by those who remember this by nature, or have a better chart than i. And i hope they deliver...... The correct chart.

I couldn't find one that went down to 22g wire and 6 mah load.

Load doesn't matter. You are protecting the wires from a meltdown if you have a short. A 1 amp fuse is fine. Going lower than that gets more expensive and there is no benefit.

I would think the meter is the weak link. The meter would be the fuse.

Not if the short is in the wire before the meter! You need to protect wires with fuses. The pack can generate many hundreds of amps if you have a short. It's a safety issue. Fuses very rarely protect electronics from failure but they do prevent meltdowns and fires.

OK, so at which end of the circuit? Current Theory or Electron Theory?

Always put the fuse on the battery side of the circuit! Doesn't matter which way you think of current flow. The power source is the battery and you want to protect the wires going from it.
