Default DPI charger--does it run all the time ?

I just bought a 48 volt DPI charger for a RXV.

I plugged the charger in, and it charged the batteries, the green light was solid, so i unplugged it from the cart.

After i unplugged it from the cart, i noticed the charger was still "running" / vibrating .

I was told these chargers are meant to be left plugged in all the time. My question, is does this dpi charger run and use /pull electricity all the time it is plugged into the wall? Even if the cart end is not plugged in?

It probably has such a minimal draw you won't know it's on or not when not plugged to cart. I have been meaning to put my kilowatt on it when charging and I will be able to answer your question when I unplug it from cart. I will try to remember to answer this post for sure and how much power it is actually useing.

Mine does the same, it's warm, almost hot to the touch even when it's not plugged into the cart.

When the green LED is on and the yellow LED below it is off, the DPI is in its float charge mode and should be left plugged into cart, if you want to start your next trip with fully charged batteries.

In a nutshell, for max battery performance and lifespan, the DPI should be plugged into cart when cart is not in use.

When the DPI is plugged into wall outlet, but not plugged into cart, it is in a standby mode and does use some electrical energy, but is is such a small amount that unplugging it is hardly worth the effort.

-----------
Except when putting out about 10A or higher, my DPI chargers are very quiet and relatively cool.

Mine too is warm when in float mode. Like warmer than I would think they should be. And honestly it's as warm in float as I remember the powerwise being putting out like 17amps.

It was brand new in box and is running in mode 3.

Now it sits out side and we have been close to a 100 here everyday since I have used it and it does get hit with afternoon sun in the shed. But like this mourning it was warm. No sun on it and has been floating for well over a day at that point.

Ok I hooked my kilowatt up to my plugged in DPI charger without it plugged into cart. It read 29w. That is a pretty good power draw for an off charger but in contrast it's now charging my batteries in full charge mode at like 14 amps and it reads 859watts. It was up there around 900 something a minute ago. I will post back tomorrow or late tonight when I see it in the float stage

Mine does indeed still "run" when not plugged into the cart, it makes a soft hum and is warm to the touch... These are great chargers for keeping your batteries at max voltage, once you confirm the jumper settings are correct. I've yet to need to add water to 2 year old batteries....

Now it's just floated down to 40w.
