Can I use a Yanaha 48V charger on my EZGO?
Im looking to go from 42V to 48V on a budget. Can I use this Yamaha charger?
If so, can I convert it to a D plug? Thanks |

I think it will do fine, just ignore the third wire in the charger cable.

It is the safety interlock which disables the cart while charging. Simply run the charge cord through the steering wheel before plugging into the cart to prevent anybody from driving off with the charger plugged in.

Excuse my ignorance but does my current EZGO D plug have 2 wires (no safety interlock) and the Yamaha 3 prong has the interlock?
Thanks |

Yep, your kids can rip out of the drive with the charger still plugged in with an ezgo.
Luckily the plug usually comes out at some point, it’s slanted to the outside. You can only rewire the charger so many times. I speak from experience |

I believe the Ezgo D plug uses a magnetic switch activated by a magnet in the plug to disable the cart.

I just tested it with the charger plugged into the cart. It has no safety and you can drive it. Not a big deal deal for me.

Can the same be said for the SB50 plug on a marathon?
