Default No Click No Go

Having solenoid issues again. Back out of the drive way last night put in forward and nothing no click, went to to reverse and nothing . pushed it back in deriveway till this morning and this is what I found .

No click , removed lg resistor pack neg to lg post solenoid 51.volts , move to other lg post and hit pedal 0 volts , resemble with resistor, still nothing.

Jump lg terminals and moves

Small terminals read 0 volts , hit pedal and reads 51. volts.

On my multi meter my continuity and diode tester ->l- is on the same setting .

+ red side of diode w/ positive probe reads 314 hit pedal and the meter goes to 1 on the far left of the screen
+ red side of diode w/ negative probe reads 314 hit pedal and the continuity beeper goes off.

any ideas before I strike a match ....

Thanks, Swan

If you have 51 on the small posts when you hit the pedal I would say bad solenoid

Check the 2 small posts again for continuity with nothing on them and see if it "Beeps". If it does, you know the energizing coil is good and the solenoid is binding internally or the bridge burned though (we know it actuated when you jumped across it). If it is binding, sometinmes you can tap on it with a wooden mallet and it will free up. You can also open it up and do it too. If the energizing coil is bad, I would go back to whomever you just bought that one from as no way it should have burned out that coil in a month.

And if it is bound, you will not be able to hear the click as it is stuck. This test will only tell you if the energizing coil is still good, and if so, on a new solenoid, it is almost always bridge bound internally and can usually be freed up. If it is a burned out coil, then as you have gathered, it is junk...

I removed everything from the small terminals and there is no continuity between the two small posts .

Yep, energizing coil burned out.... Contact your supplier and see if he will help you with it.

Was it a tanish colored MZJ-400a?

Test resistance of the coil, not continuity (just in case your meter continuity test requires a lower resistance than the coil).

If there is no continuity there is no connection (a break) in the wingdings, correct? That is how we have always tested them and then we would check resistance if we had a weak coil (not pulling up all the way). That has never failed us so I ask in case we are missing something around here....
