Brand new controller still intermittent reverse
2006 EZ GO TXT PDS. I have posted before about having intermittent reverse, so I took the forums advice and replaced the controller with a new Curtis controller. I installed it and I still have intermittent reverse. The controller makes the solid beep sound but the reverse works for a second and then stops and I get 4-5 short beeps. I have a new f/r switch that I haven’t installed yet because I figured it was the controller. Help please and thank you

Re: Brand new controller still intermittent reverse
If it is stopping and beeping it may be the forward and reverse switch. Does it beep until the cart stops rolling? I wonder if the switch is telling the controller to go to neutral?

Correct. It’s a solid reverse sound and then it stops and I get the 4-5 beeps. I’ll swotch it back to forward and it works fine. I switch it back to reverse, works for a second and then same story

Re: Brand new controller still intermittent reverse
I don't know if your new controller is the curtis 1206MX model or not. But this PDF document http://www.fsip.biz/Documents/EZGO%2...iagnostics.pdf has what the "beep codes" mean.
I see from the instructions that you must have the rear wheels raised before doing the test. Just be careful that you don't "full throttle" while the wheels are up in the air as I understand this can cause the motor to overspin and burn out. You don't want\need to create more problems. |

Re: Brand new controller still intermittent reverse
I am going to replace the F/R switch since I already have a new replacement. Then I will check the pedal box and make sure the contact is good.

Re: Brand new controller still intermittent reverse
Check the beep code first, as that doesn't require lifting a finger. Well, I guess you gotta lift a few fingers to search for the codes.

Re: Brand new controller still intermittent reverse
Replaced the forward/reverse switch and it works flawlessly. Makes me wonder if I could have saved my self $400 on the new controller?.... oh well. The new one is a 350amp compared to the original so we will call it a win.
