Cart is jumpy and won’t always go
My golf cart is acting up. I have a 6 seater 36 Volt ezgo txt.
When I push the gas it won’t always go. Then usually when it does go it’s very jumpy. This is for both forward and reverse. It seems to be worse in cooler weather. It’s almost like it has to be warmed up. Then when it does get going it’ll slow down randomly while driving. And pick right back up or stop. Sometimes it’ll drive just fine though once “warmed up”. I haven’t been able to find any hot cables. Batteries are charge and water is full when completely charged. I’ve had issues with the solenoid in the past so I replaced that and it’s still having the issue. I’ve checked all the connections I can get to and they are also fine and solidly snug. Our garage roof leaks and some water does get on the cart a little but I can’t find anywhere it might be causing a problem. Any help is greatly appreciated! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Year, and drive type? See in the stickies above to ID the type. Check out the thread below, specifically post #2. That molex plug causes a lot of problems. Spray it with electrical cleaner, and plug/unplug multiple times. Or, even better, cut the plug out and solder and shrink tube. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-volt-car.html |

Re: Cart is jumpy and won’t always go
Thanks!
I have been outside, quadrupole checking that everything was tight and it still wouldn’t work. I Eventually switched the speed control to an old one I had sitting around and it drove fine after that, no jumping and it moved right away, however, it was going super slow. I plugged it in for about 10 minutes then drove it again. It started out fast but after maybe 50 feet it slowed down, but not as slow as it was before. I just put a diode on my solenoid, think that’s causing the slow down or does it just need a good charge since I had been messing with it for so long? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Cart is jumpy and won’t always go
If it's a "series drive" type cart, the F&R switch is also a common "it won't go till I hit 1/2 throttle, then it jumps" problem.

Yah mine is for sure a 1995.5 and up model and is a series.
I checked the FR, wasn’t sure what I was looking for though. Everything was right. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What is your current pack voltage? After you get that V reading, charge it up today then unplug it and let it sit overnight then in the morning or anytime tomorrow before you use it, check the voltage and report that number back too. |

Thanks again!
Do you have a resource on how to check voltage? I haven’t done it in a few years cause the batteries are new, well almost a year old now, on this cart. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Worn motor brushes will cause a lot of what you are experiencing as well. If the brushes aren't always making good contact to the armature you will get very erratic motor performance.

Re: Cart is jumpy and won’t always go
Using a DVM (Digital Volt Meter) and check the batteries one by one and write down what each battery voltage is. So we have the starting point.
Then charge the batteries fully and unplug the charger from the cart when done. Check the full pack voltage with the DVM by checking the V between the two cables that go to the controller. Do this right away after unplugging the controller. So we can evaluate the charger. Then let it sit untouched for several hours, preferrably 12 or more hours. Check each battery, one by one and write down the V for each battery. So we can evaluate each individual battery. |

I’ve had to replace my solenoid about 4 times. Someone mentioned it could be from a worn engine brush. Is that something that can be replaced or is that an entire engine replacement? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
