36 v swapped to 48
I did a swap for a friends stock EZGO PDS golf cart from 36 to 48 using a new 500amp altrax XCT controller with 48 v contactor with the stock PDS motor and lift kit, it ran great for several weeks but he called and said it has stopped working. This is what he said it gives him.
4 Green LED flashes = ITS Inductive E-Z-GO = correct 1-GRN (+) 5-RED LED flash = Motor Field OPEN alarm (Check connections) He says everything is hooked up and nothing is loose. I'm 5hrs away and haven't had a chance to look at it so I was just wondering if there was anything I should look for when I do see it. |

A lifted/big tire cart on full 48v with stock pds motor? Better bring another motor with you when you go check it out.

With a stock PDS motor and stock height (18") tires, high amp controllers need to be turned down to a 400A max for the motor to survive very long. |

Re: 36 v swapped to 48
Andy if you get lucky, real lucky, the field wires have rubbed bare against the battery tray vertical support behind the controller. This will throw the 5 red blinks code.
If not then I'm afraid the other guys are right. The stock PDS motor can handle 42v and 400 amps but even then it is on borrowed time. It just gives up it's guts on 48. Good Luck |

Thanks guy's,
Yea we talked about it before we did it. I told him it may work for awhile but didn't figure it would go this quickly. I guess it's time for him to go Plum Quick! |

Re: 36 v swapped to 48
Do check those field wires as well. I haven't seen that in a while and had forgot about that
