Default 09 RXV Charging Faults w/No Abnormal Symptoms.. Ideas?

Hey all,

As the title alludes, I have a 2009 RXV, running like new Trojan 48V (4x12 configuration) batteries. These batteries have <20 hours of run time on them, however, recently I have been unable to charge the cart using my Powerwise QE 48V charger.

When I plug in the charger, I get a quick green and red flash and then a pause. After the pause, I receive 2 red blinks on the charger, indicating per the EZGO technical manual that the battery pack is either under charged or over charged.

That being said, I checked the fill level in all of the cells, and everything looks fine, no over or under filled cells. I measured the voltage across each battery, and they all measure between 11.95 - 11.98V respectively. I ensured all of the terminal post connections were tight and there is no corrosion noted on any of the posts.

I'm sure some of you have had this problem before... just looking at what next steps y'all would recommend to troubleshoot..

Should I try charging each battery individually on a 12V charger and see if after the separate charger the Powerwise can charge them together?

Thanks for any input/feedback!

Zach J.

First, check cart charge port for voltage, the 2 pins horizontally opposite each other. When first test is good, Open charger, check DC wires connection to charger board. When that test doesn't get you anywhere, throw charger in nearest dumpster, and get a real charger.

Welp as you eloquently outlined, checked the voltage across the 2 charge port pins: 47.9V. Popping open the charger now and checking the connections to the charger board.

Thanks for the quick response CG!

Update: Took the charger to Carts Unlimited and had them test the charger on a known good bench setup. Same fault indicators I was receiving.

Decided to invest in the DPI Accusense...

Plugged in tonight after performing the power on self tests; pegged at 17 Amps and humming along beautifully. Thanks for the feedback again!
