Default EXGO TXT Beast Broken Axle Shaft

Trying to help my daughter fix her 2006 TXT Beast. The axle shaft broke about an inch inside the axle tube. We got the outer bearing out, and the snap ring to the inner bearing but can not figure out how to grip the axle shaft to pull it and the inner bearing. Anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions for tools? we can grip it with pliers, but can't generate enough force to pull it. Based on the replacement shaft there does not appear to be a C clip in the differential
Related question - It looks like the prev owner may have welded the shaft to the hub, is this common?
I'm more used to cars than carts so any help is appreciated.
Thank you

appears to be brake drum may have striped it’ s splines and it was welded to shaft instead of replacing it.
I too am a retired auto tech😊
If axle is slip fit into differential (( no manual in front of me) I have welded studs on axle and used slide hammer to remove.
But again not having manual to know for sure if snap ring is only thing holding axle in housing, this method might work.😊

I installed brake drum backwards to remove mine. If you don't have it, download Service and Parts manuals from the Stickies.
