I had the exact same issue as JordyEd after replacing a controller with one of the newer programable ones. I want to thank Sergio for posting an accurate and clear solution. Literally took less than 10 minutes to fix after reading his reply.

Some of club cars have a micro switch on the forward reverse switch which activates a resistor to slow reverse drive might want to check it if I remember right would have several limit switches on the switch.
