Default Headlight hook up W/O reducer help

I have a CC precedent and looking to just hook up a head light w/o a reducer for now. But I have 8v batteries. Can I put 16v to the headlight or no?

Just put 16v (2/8v in series) to the lights and they will be bright as hell for the new buyer. And he won't know the higher voltage is burning up the bulbs or that the additional draw on the 2/8v is creating an imbalance in the pack that only gets worse with recharging and takes about a year or more off the pack's useful life.
