Controller bad?

I have a 1984 DS converted to solid state. If you press the pedal and engage the solenoid it goes full throttle. The cart will move even with the pot box disconnected from the controller. Do I need a new controller or is it something else? Thanks

This controller probably has 2 throttle wires connected to the controller pins 2 and 3. If you remove these wires the cart still goes? Impossible:
Sounds you might be having some throttle signal issues.
Older conversion signal should read 0-5000 ohms if you remove the above mentioned 2 wires and plug the Meter leads into each one.
Newer conversion has a single throttle wire. read 0-5 volts between this wire and battery main (-)

As soon as the solenoid makes contact the cart goes full throttle. I have 3 pins on the controller one from the solenoid and 2 from the pb-6 with all three wires removed it still goes full throttle. The only thing I have done is install a voltage reducer and a fuse box.

Did you disconnect any cables while installing the converter and fuse box?

If You did, which cables?

If not, did any wrenches fall on the Motor or Controller connections?

I disconnected the a battery for the pack - and removed it for access

Which pb-6 and what controller do you have? Is this a new conversion?

I don't remember which controller I have. I'm pretty sure the PB-6 is 0-5k. I did the conversion about 7 or 8 years ago.

I bought a cheap voltage reducer and it is mounted near the controller. Is there any way it could be affecting the controller?

I seem to remember there is a way you can connect the high amperage cables incorrectly and get full throttle only. I don't know the particulars but....

I had a wet controller do this once. WOT as soon as solenoid clicked. Did you get it wet in there?
