Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
We are very much looking forward to the move (I am building my cart exclusively for the move!). I will be 6 hours away from my son once we move but I will drive back once a month if I need too :)

Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
Just figured I'd put some pics of my build since many say they like pics.
These are what I started with. Before and after cleaning. It's not gonna be anything fancy. Just a cart for my mom and sister to use at our property a few times a year. |

Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
do you have pictures on how you mounted your pot box and wired it up? im thinking of changing from scotty b throttle to that, i have an 83 ccds and have issues with the parking brake staying locked. did a lot of adjustments and its better but still have to be careful brake isnt still engaged. Is the pb6 waterproof? thanks

Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
Harley, I just switched mine from an old Switch box to a PB6 (I got from Dave at Revolution) and it went quite smooth using a Simpson plate you can pick up at the hardware store. Had to drill a couple holes here and there to get everything to fit, put it was surprisingly easy. I assume it is as waterproof as anything else, I’m pretty sure my old switch box was splash resistant at best 😂... this may help engine95 as well if he hasn’t gotten that far yet... or anyone else with an old school box.

Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
The unit itself is sealed except for where the shaft enters the housing. It will be fine as long as you don't direct water directly at it or submerge the unit. Moisture in the environment or a splash here and there are not going to affect it.

Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
This is what the back looks like on that PB6 mount... drilled a couple hole to mount the plate and then a couple hole to mount the PB6, right on the old mounting plate.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think those screws are long enough; you may want to run down and grab longer ones to be safe

Re: 1985 DS speed control (pot box) conversion?
... 😂... ya, I was going to use self tapping metal screws for all of them but the heads were a bit tight for the PB6 under... so I scraped through my spare parts drawer and that’s what I came up with... I’m going to get some replacements next time at the hardware store... I was thinking how stupid they looked as I turned the nut around 1000 times
