Default starter making weird noise

have an 04 club car with the 290 gas and the i think the starter is making a

weird noise like maybe a bearing going out. it is the loudest when cold at

about half throttle any ideas? can it be rebuilt?

new on here, but I have seen rebuild kits that include brushes. Not sure if its a bearing or not in the starter.

Sure it can be rebuilt,almost any mechanical part can be rebuilt.always remember to pay attention to how you take it apart.A starter generator is just like a big electric golf car motor.

Maybe you could remove the belt and run the starter to see if the noise remains ? It may not since you will have removed some of the load from the starter but you would at least be able to hand check for any play at the pulley at the same time.

at least yours is giving you a sign of trouble.......my brushes wore out and my armature exploded (well thats what it looked like) and i had to replace the whole thing. luckley a friend had one off a flat head motor and it worked on my 94.

Yep , CC used the same S/G from 84-96.5

I have had many bearings in the CC starters go bad!!
