Default 36 to 48 and more on 83 ezgo marathon

Ok just got a 83 EZGO Marathon given to me.. it hasnt been moved for a few years and was left outside It still beeps when you put it in fwd or rev.. going to rebuild paint and lift this cart.. first cart project me or my buddy has done but were both good with tools he is a body man and I have done simple motor swaps and truck lift kits etc many times.. I am going to replace the batteries and was thinking of going to 48v.. WHAT am I getting into here
This is what I am thinking now:
48v batteries
all new 4g welding wire
48v controller.. altrex etc
high speed motor
lift 4.5 inch block kit is all they make for it and I am going to put hevier and higher arch springs for about another 4 inch I think
10 inch rims
tires.. I already have brand new from a friend 24s
a budget of about 2500 for what I listed am I way off or is there way more to it any 2 cents from some ppl doing this a lot longer would be great!!

An 83 is new compared to what I'm rebuilding. You will probably need a new solenoid also.

PASS on this project and BUY a newer cart to build. The Marathon is a mistake. I can't tell you how many times I've heard the "free cart" story that ended up costing $5K

that is one way to look at it
Another way is you will have $2500 in a 25 yr old cart
I have seen 4 sale a late model TXT 48v ezgo on 22s goes 22mph for less than that...

local they seem to be alot more!! (San Antonio Texas) but maybe I am wrong.. the labor paint body work seats etc well not cost me between friends and myself.. its just the parts IE controller motor etc what I am asking is for a swap is what I listed about all I need or is there more to it and am diving into the water and I have no idea where the rocks are at

Check your local craigs list see if you can find a 1994 and up TXT type ezgo.... you will thank us in the long run.... find a wreck for $4-$500 and fix it up
