Default Motor upgrade

Have a 1989 marathon(resistor type)with stock motor. Speed is not important. If I change out the motor to a different hp and rpm will this help my run time. Thanks

Blackjack159, Welcome to BGW!

Motors run on amps, higher HP means higher amp draw, which equals shorter runtime.

First thing to do is evaluate the batteries you have... can you give voltage & Hydrometer readings?

Getting rid of those resistors and changing to electronic controller will increase your run time, unless you run wide open all the time.

How much pedal time are you needing? With stock motor and good batteries you should be getting a boring 90min.
