Default 36v powerwise charger

pretty sure my diodes are bad, but from other posts it sounds like the fuse should also be blown if the diodes are bad.

36v powerwise charger, kicks on when plugged in, but ammeter stays in "0" position. 36volts on the red wire coming from the cart, and the charger is putting off what appears to be 40v

fuse is good, and circuit board is good. cart is good, as we tried another charger. used the ohm setting on my meter and got 1 or -1 on both diodes as i switched the leads from the between the diode and the heat sink. does this mean the diodes are bad? can i get these diodes at radio shack, or is there something special about them?

what boggles me is that if there is 40v coming off the charger, then why wont it charge the cart?

Note the cart battery pack voltage then plug in the charger and see if the voltage increases in the cart battery pack, if it increases the charger is working and you may have a bad ammeter.

If it hums and does not put out a charge then the transformer is bad?

just because it hums and doesn't charge it doesn't mean the x-former is bad it could be several other things, the hum is the x-former working.
