Default Change the motor?

I have an 36v, '88 Marathon with the original motor. I put new all new 4ga wires (everywhere), new Trojen batts, and cleaned the wiper board. It will hold a charge for a long time, goes well on flat land, but it is a dog on the hills.

What is the easiest way to gain more torque and speed?

I do not want to convert to 48V and would like to keep it a resistor cart.

Would just changing the motor work? How much does larger tires help?

Thanks!

The best thing to do is send your motor out to be rewound for more poop or install a later model txt motor for a little more poop.

Changing the motor alone for one with more hp will not improve performance. Bumping up the voltage will get you what you want. Also Search for '12v booster' on this forum.
