more torque from 88 ez go
I am fairly new to carts, and have a 1988 ezgo marathon. So far I have put in new batteris, replaced all cables with 4 gauge, put in a new high amp solenoid, and put in a heavy duty F&R switch. I still have the existing speed resistor and motor. Is there anything else I can do without switching to a speed controller to get a little more torque. Also if i do decide to upgrade to a 400 amp controller can I do that with my stock motor?

Re: more torque from 88 ez go
You can convert to 48v and controller for more speed and torque. Your old will do okay on the higher voltage. How long it lasts depends upon what condition it is in.... It would be a good idea to look at the brushes and armature before hand..... Now that I think about this give site sponsor PQ a call and ask them about rewinding your motor for more torque..... that may be the cheapest solution and then you can go 48v later

Re: more torque from 88 ez go
Thanks for the info. Do you know what the symptoms are of bad motor brushes/armature?
