This is your cart. You have to have more than one solenoid welded shut. Like #1 and #4 ? SO that the solenoids have power and one is closed.

Thank you so much OLD MEC for that description this will help me greatly.
I'm not near the car now and will be away for a few days so can't check it now. So a couple more questions:
-Do I need to remove the solenoids to check them or can I just use a volt meter with them attached.
-Can solenoids be repaired or do they need to be replaced.
-With your description of the power flow starting with the key on, my key is off and it still goes full throttle when put in either forward or reverse.

U can us a Vollt meter set to ohm's to check for shorted/welded solinoids.
An replace no repair
and if U have more than 1 shorted/welded U may as well replace all 5

Thanks a lot everyone. I finally got back to work on my cc and found that #1 and #5 solenoids were shut. So, based on your recommendation that if two are bad I should replace all five. My question now is does it make sense to also replace the three resistor wires or is that a waste of money?
Also, is there a way to test the speed switch assembly to confirm it is okay?

No U don't need to replace resistor wires .
as for the speed switch , yes the best test is to fix solenoids and then see if speed works OK.

Well, I finally got new solenoids installed and now the cart works as it should (at least it's not full throttle when I put it in forward or reverse) but what I have now is when I begin to drive, it starts out quite nicely but when I go to increase speed, the pedal goes down but no increased speed, when pushing further it takes off with a jump. Seems like it's missing interim steps and then goes to a higher power. I'm wondering if the throttle control is not working correctly.

Now it sounds as if you may have a bad micro in the box.

DIDO to KIDDERS post, I would look to the micros or slide unit inside pedal speed control box.

Get the cart Up on Jack stands, scotch front tires.
Remove seat.
Turn key on, and start counting the solinoid clicks .

just a side note its also possible to get new bad soleniods......but i would go over the other stuff mentioned 1st and if no problems than check the new soleniods.......sounds like you have 1st speed and high speed.....................
