91 yamaha g8e goes then stops

My 91 g8e Yamaha runs good, but then it will stop! Sometimes you let off the gas pedal and it will go again sometimes it takes a few minutes! Any ideas? Thanks for any help! This is a great thing for the do it yourselfer!

The first thing too check is the solinoid. Make sure the cable is good and make sure it is tight. The second thing too check is the stop switch .

Thanks for the help! I used my mult meter on the stop switch and it seemed to test fine!

OK then. The cart in the pic is a 91 Modified G8 so make sure the solinoid cable is ok. Mine did the same thing but replacing the cable took care of it.

Which cable on the solenoid did you replace?

I replaced the main 6 ga. wire ( it had a break in it and when it heated up it would stop until it cooled off)
