Default 1995 DS Electrical Issue

New to the forum so please bare with me. Restoring a 95 DS, installed new batteries with 4ga wires turned on cart and no go, cart did jump forward and then nothing. Put cart in reverse get reverse alarm but wont move. Connected battery charger and the amp meter didn't budge and the charger is silent. Kept charger connected for a few hours and amp meter at 0. My experience with battery chargers are that most make some sort of hum or noise when charging. Not sure if I have a two fold problem here?
1. Battery charger issue?
2. Batteries need to be charged before use?

Thanks,

did you run the #6 neg cable thur OBC? if not you have to.....after you get that done if needed you can run a jumper wire from solenoid small post with yellow wire over to neg terminal #6 battery......if cart runs bad OBC.........also if you can try your charger on another cart see if it works or try a known good charger on your cart if it dosn,t work good chance OBC............................

Update: Charger checks out to be fine, however I did notice that I forgot to connect the red wire coming from the charging receptacle to the positive side of battery #1. Could this be my problem?

That will do it.

We have movement! Attached the red charging receptacle wire to the Positive side of Battery #1, the red battery indicator light on the dash briefly came on then off. The charger is still reading 0 on the meter and no noise or hum coming from the charger. Ran out of time to trouble shoot anymore. Left charger connected and will return at 6pm EST tonight. Am I heading in the right direction?

New issue, the cart runs fine sometimes, then won't run at all? The reverse alarm does sound when it won't run? Still having charger issues. Can not get the charger to turn on? Connect it to cart and nothing, no clicks, hum and the ammeter remains at 0? Any help would be appreciated, getting frustrated!

I suspect you did not reconnect the black charger wire too? check with your test meter at the charger receptacle, do you have 36v there yet?

Not sure what black wire you are referring to. I checked the back of the receptacle and there are two black wires, one loops back to the receptacle and the other is in a wire harness going to the front of the cart. Is there a wire that needs to be connected to a negative post on a battery other than the negative wire from the motor? and if so where would I locate it? looked all around and found no hanging or not connected black wire. Currently the cart is not moving front or back, just looks pretty and has a nice sounding reverse alarm!

I am getting desperate, with vacation only two days away and the golf cart is still idle. I am posting hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction. I had a mechanic from work stop over to look at the cart. At work we have tons of these moving people around. He jumped the solenoid small terminal to the neg post on the battery and was able to get the wheels turning, tried it again and nothing? Thinks there is a ground issue, not sure if it could be the FNR switch? I have a new FNR wire harness and will replace it tonight hoping the cart will come alive!
