I assume that the power path (in simple terms) is battery pack, f&r switch, controller, solenoid, then motor? So I would need to remove the cables going from the battery pack to the f&r switch?

Sorry for the delay....

You will notice that all the batteries are in series and a + & - come off the pack to the F/R switch. you will want to disconnect from the batteries so that there is no power going to the F/R switch.

Ok. I think I'll pull the mains from tha battery side, not the switch side. That way I don't have to worry about the cables touching something and blowing me up.

Ok. I installed the switch. Still smell the burning plastic. I did some digging while was in there. I have a GE D398 motor. 6.1 HP @ 5330 rpm. 157 AMPS. I also think it has the stock controller. It's a curtis 25864G05. The cables are 4ga, but they are crimped and have significant amounts of spae between the shielding and the lugs.

The tires are Kenda Speedracers. 18x10.00-10. The rims have no markings on them.

What I'm seeing is a new controller, and new cables. Am I on the right track?

is the cart running well now? I know sticking your head into the battery compartment isn't appealing, however there's got to be a source...maybe park it in the garage and check it out further?

maybe the solution is that given that you have owned it for a short while, a good option may be to load it up and give it back to the dealer. Considering that the first solution they presented you with did not address the problem...unless you purchased the cart with the probability that you were going to have to troubleshoot/ throw money at it/ fix out of the gate....

you really could end up dropping a lot of cash to address the issue.

The cart runs fine. It is just frying cables.

After driving a short way touch each cable to see which are getting hot.

I tried that, but I can't really notice one getting any hotter than an another. I spoke with SCOTTYB and told him that when I replaced the switch, I did see that the wire going going tothe A termibal had been melted a little. I'm gonna upgrade the controller and cables.

Ordered my new controller and 2ga wire set from ScottyB last night. I'm ready to get this thing on the road safely.
