is it possible in the programming of the controller you forgot to "un-check" the high pedal disable?

'high peddle disable' is a safety feature which disables the controller if the throttle input signal is not on zero when the controller is powered up.
This safety feature avoids high speed start up and does not effect performance.

I understood the same way ScottyB explained it when I read through the directions.

I will check the resistance but since I move the **** thing every day to get in and out of my truck, it does not roll easy. I only move it about 2 feet each time so I will check it out on flat ground later.

Thanks for the input and I will be checking the bearings.

But... The old motor with 36V ran 23mph... Just saying

It is subtle, but this is paradox akin to an apples to oranges comparison.
We don't know and cannot find out what speed the old motor would do on 48V because old motor is no longer available.
We don't know and cannot find out what speed the new motor will do on 36V because 36 is not a whole multiple of 8.

The top speed is the same with both the old and new set-up, so both old and new motors max out at the same RPM. Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe you are running 22x11-12 Sahara Classic tires, so the motor is spinning roughly 4,400 RPM when the cart is going 23MPH. Therefore the old motor @ 36V and the new motor @ 48V produce the same torque at 4,400RPM, otherwise the top speed would be different.

To go faster, you need a motor that produces more torque at higher RPM or reduce the drag that is limiting the motor to 4,400RPM.

You may have some bearing and/or brake shoes drag, but I suspect what is holding the cart back is the extremely low pressure tires.

The bead setting pressure for Sahara Classic tires is 32PSI, so kick the pressure up to 20 to 25 PSI and check the top speed.

The correct inflation pressure is when the tread footprint is even across its width.

Call them and ask.
Be prepared to tell them what controller, tires, batteries, etc., you have and what speed you want to achieve.
