Default Motor brushes and internal cleaning

I need some new connection studs on my motor. I know the studs come with a new set of brushes. There are four studs. Does every stud have brushes attached?

Also what kind of cleaning or maintenance can/should be done while I have the motor apart?

I was actually curious of this as well on how difficult to rebuild them or perhaps rewind the motors as I have a backup motor of thinking of toying with.

The studs have a plastic bushing around them so they do not short out on the case of the motor
