Default Alltrax DCX300 better than stock Curtiss 1206se

I have a 1999 Ezgo dcs with stock Curtiss controller that lost field voltage so I plan on installing a used Alltrax DCX300 or getting the 1206 rebuilt. Was curious what amp the stock Curtiss was?

Stock DCS (Curtis 1206SX) was 300A.

It was a failed design, so replace it with the DCX300 if you have one, but the DCX has been replaced. The latest and greatest Alltrax 300A series drive is the SR48300.

I am guessing your saying the stock controller was a failed design? Yes I have the DCX300, just need to download the software and find the best cable, 9 pin to 9pin or usb to 9pin.

Yes, the DCS was only marketed from 1995 thru 1999.

It didn't have undervoltage protection, so they failed a lot.

Cable type depends on the computer. If it's an old one with a 9-pin serial port, then a 9-pin to 9-pin will work, otherwise is is the USB to 9-pin and not all of them will work. Alltrax used to have a list of cables on their website.

Heres the brand of USB-to-serial cable that I use for old alltrax.
