Solenoid coil burnt up
I found another problem and maybe its because of this.
I recently had written Scotty b about smoke coming form my batteries and did an inspection on my F&R connections. Then I opened my back cover below my back rest and looked at the controller to see if there was anything wrong.I notice that my postive(red) connection to my Solenoid was burnt on the bolt.As well with some kind of clear tubing with a pack of some type that was connected to the other bolt on the solenoid.Well that clear tubing was toasted on both ends.No my question is, why would that solenoid burn?too loose of bolts? And what is that clear "U" tubing called.I thank you for your time. Re: Solenoid coil burnt up
what year and voltage cart we talking about?......that clear tubing thing on solenoid is more than likely as some did come covered with tubing but if its a 48 voltcontroller cart the only coil would be the one for the reagan braking if its a 36 volt resistor cart it will have 4 coils............................

Re: Solenoid coil burnt up
first post says it has a controller, so doesnt thaty mean that Club Car stock setup had a capacitor acrosss the solenoids larger studs. A bad internal contact would cause the stud area to melt on the solenoid, and the voltage would look for a path across the solenoid so the capacitor probably got fried. The clear tube is possibly the covering over the now burnt capacitor which melted from the heat. It sounds like just a burnt solenoid, which in turn took out the capacitor and protective covering on the capacitor. maybe

Re: Solenoid coil burnt up
i,m sorry i should have said that thing wrapped in plastic is the resistor they did wrap them like that for some reason........the diode won,t be wrapped, as for the coil if hes talking about the resistor coil on a 48 volt the only coil is for the reagan braking but if its a 36 volt it will have several coils or none and if its a 36 volt controller cart it won,t have any resistor coils but if the burnt peice hes referring to is mounted to solenoid its a resistor not a resistor coil just a plain resistor.........................................8 )

Re: Solenoid coil burnt up
I have taken the solenoid into my local shop and what was burnt was the resistor on the solenoid.Due to loose connection.(4volt. I am learning things everyday about my cart that I never thought would be a factor. Thanks guys!
