2014 Drive Shutters Really Bad on Takeoff
I have a 2014 Yamaha Drive. I turn the key on, put it in forward, hit the Excelerator and nothing happens. If I take my foot and push the cart a little bit it will start to move but it shutters really bad and then shuts down. It is electric. I have replaced the motor, the controller, the solenoid, the throttle switch and the start stop switch and nothing makes a difference. I’ve been working on golf carts for 10+ years and have never run across this before. I’m at my wits end with this thing and I Would really appreciate any advice anybody has that has come across this problem before. Thank you

Re: 2014 Drive Shutters Really Bad on Takeoff
The excelerator may be needing to be changed out for an accelerator. Yamaha did a bad job on the excelerator component and then decided to switch it out for the more common accelerator package. I jest... but honestly that problem should be a controller/speed sensor, motor brushes, or throttle. Are you sure you switched them all out with new parts and checked the wiring?

Oh yeah I’m sure. I’ve gone through the whole process 10 times changed out every single freaking part I can think of and it still does it. At this point I think I’m just gonna have to bite the bullet and take it to Yamaha and see what they say. Thank you for the reply though

Yeah that is probably your best bet. I have seen that problem in my cart and a friend's cart. It was brushes in mine and his was the controller.

This immediately would make me think motor brushes, having already replaced the motor though I would be scratching my head too...

How old are the batteries?. And did you load test the batteries?
