I would like it to go between 22 and 25 mph. Possibly reprogram and larger tire would do it. Not sure if I will need a controller.

programming sounds like the first and easiest step hopefully you're good there. Otherwise yep bigger tires but that of course normally comes with a lift to fit them... Welcome to the never ending upgrade train, I'm now looking at switching to lithium for power and weight LOL

If it’s AC it should have a sticker on the side above the “Yamaha” on the rocker...if not the plowman is definitely the way to go. Just tell him what you want and he’ll get you there.

It's a DC motor. Will I need a better controller?

Yes definitely. Call Don Plowman and he’ll fill you in on all your options. He’s the go to guy for Yamaha!

After consulting with several Yamaha dealers and experts, I purchased an Alltrax 400 amp controller. Talked to Alltrax , who was very helpful in determining which controller would be best for me. They recommended I purchase from EV Drives. They were also very helpful and had best price. Pretty easy installation and now goes 22MPH. The controller has a programing app that you can use from your computer. Now looking for a deal on larger tires to get a couple more MPH.
