Default Just Rebuilt

I just rebuilt my 1986 ezgo 2 cycle all part where replaced - carb. Now it will start but will not rev up just backfires and sputters dont no what it could be.
I replaced the Pulser coil while I had it apart, not sure how to set the timing back.Could this be timing or carb problems or maybe I put the reed valve in the wrong way.

PLEASE HELP

the reed cage needs to face the crankshaft, is the piston in the right way? the arrow on the piston needs to point to the exhaust.

The piston is put in right and the reed valve will only fit one way what do you think is my problem.

Honestly, it's either an air leak in the crankcase, you got the coil grounded well? Did you have the carb apart? If you can keep it running, spray carb cleaner around the intake, crankcase gaskets etc... if it revs up, you found your air leak. Is it smoking? Is it getting too much oil?
