295 Rebuilt?
ok Guys need some input got 95 metalist with 295 in it , it has low compression 110 135 ,should I rebuilt it? get a rebuilt, I can do the tear down and reassambly myself , just not the machine work boring , ect, and dont have micrometer or bore gauges. If I go rebuilting it myself what would I be looking at $$$$? If I go with rebuilt engine who do you recomment, and what kind of luck had you had with engine? planning on keeping this cart so want it done right.

Re: 295 Rebuilt?
You can get a rebuilt 295 from J&M Golf Carts for $600.00 Exchange. He does good work.

Re: 295 Rebuilt?
yes ,didnt make a difference, plus sounds like getting some piston or rod noise, it actully runs strong, stopped smoking after I changed oil, 1.5 qts of 10w30, but like I said engine makes noise and low compression. Just trying to weigh my options, rebuilt it, or buy a rebuilt, and if I buy rebuilt who has a good rep and stands behind there work, thats what Im trying to find out from the members on here

Re: 295 Rebuilt?
What Roady said is true Your costs for parts alone will tally most of that.... Plus you get a warantee.

Re: 295 Rebuilt?
I agree, forget about rebuilding it myself, now check into rebuilts, or if I can get a good deal on new one may go that route too, thanks for the input

Re: 295 Rebuilt?
Those motorts were discontinued from OEM last year. We have some new MCI's if you want to go that route. Rebuilt are cheaper, but new motoros will get you all new electronics, carb, muffler, coil, ignitor. Plus, you will have quite a few parts off your old cart that you can sell for more than what most people give you for a core charge
I didn't mean to pump my business in this thread, but I believe I'm the only Sponsor with access to new OEM motors on my own shelves right now... |
