Default Re: 2000 EZGO Txt with Robins 295cc HEI Conversion. Interesting results.

Also, the grounding of everything is critical.
I ended up bailing on the HEI because I had issues out of the blue one day. I ended up switching back to the original parts but still couldn't get is running until I replaced all of the wiring connectors and ground off the paint n rust under the ground locations. In hind site I'm sure it was a ground issue all along.
At least the pre-MCI parts are available and reasonably priced.

I have a pre mci motor on mine. I have tried swapping wire but seems to run the same. Going to try and get the gm coil wired up today and see what happens

I have had several Ezgos' come to me with intermittent spark and after chasing/replacing all of the parts you guys mentioned, going back and forth with parts between carts i stumbled upon the grounding stud beside the ignitor.
Just happened to have it apart and cleaned the rust/corrosion and boom, it starts firing again. grounds are the first thing i check now with spark issues and have had two get corrected that way.

This subject comes up so many times here about these robbin engines not firing.

I wish they could add this somewhere on this site and list ! Before you Post ! to make sure all the grounds have been checked.

I also have a box of bad ignitors. Some OEM and some the $30 ones. Number one killer of ignitors is a cart that is overcharging, someone trying to start one using a 220 amp battery charger in the start position or maybe jumping the plug wire to metal.

The black wire with thin white stripe coming from ignitor that plugs into the male spade is just a bad design in my opinion.

Rust and corrosion as you mentioned is what I find also.

I have found many times people install the battery backward. It will fire one time and people start ordering parts.
Another bad design is both cables on battery are black. I always put red tape on the positive because I am old and I make mistakes
