Default Muffler INTERNAL diagram - cross-section - cut-away

Does anyone know the design of the inside of a muffler for a 4-stroke? I would like to know as I am cleaning mine; I installed a rebuilt EH29C, so I want to clear out all of the accumulations in the existing muffler. Attached is a diagram of a 'generic' muffler design...is the E-Z-GO muffler anything similar? Thanks

Yeah, but I think there’s got to be a better way - AQMD in my area would appreciate it. I will try washing with solvents as some have reported success… Thanks

We've bbq'd a muffler from a 2 stroke Yami G1. Hadn't thought to do it to a 4 stroke.

Makes me wonder about my new-to me 2005 TXT that had never had it's governor adjusted, so it only ever went about 8mph....

I have a 2000 txt that still has the factory seal on the gov, never had trouble. It will do about 18 with 24"
tires at probably the same rpm as your new-to-be doing 8 (thinking stock size tires). Unless it's a big smoking oil burner I don't think you will ever have trouble with a 4 cycle muffler.

I’ve had to bbq several 4 cycle mufflers. They’ve all been after rebuilding motors that had been smoking for a long time. The unburnt oil from old tires smoky engines does accumulate in the muffler just like a 2 stroke. On those, even after rebuilding they still smoked because of the accumulation of crud in the muffler. 45 minutes of bbq muffler turning into a mini flame thrower and the smoking would stop completely.

On a properly running 4 cycle, unless something has built a nest in there, I don’t see the need for bbq. But on the ones I’ve done that were smoke machines before rebuilding, it made all the difference.

Mine just smelled kind of rich when I drove it. No real smoke or anything.

I haven't even put a mile on it since I got it. I only adjusted the governor, and got to 18-19mph on the stock wheels and tires, then immediately took it all apart for a complete redo.

Just cut and buffed the new paint this afternoon. Assembly tomorrow. It gets 23" tires, so I'm thinking 22-24mph isn't out of the question.
