making battery cables from awg 2 al 45 mils xlp?
I recently bought an 89 ezgo marathon. It was running fine until positive headlight wires crossed a negative battery terminal after a ramp slip. We smelled something burning I lifted the seat and found that one of the batteries had a hole melted through the top next to the terminal. I replaced 2 batteries and the cables but the resistor lugs and a few other connections look burnt. I wanted to try to make all new cables from wire I have (awg 2 al 45 mils xlp) if it can be used..but I'm not sure if that's the only problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to BGW
is this the wire your talking about Applications To supply power from the utility's lines to the consumer's weatherhead. For service at 600 volts or less (phase to phase) at a conductor temperature of 75°C maximum for polyethylene insulation or 90°C maximum for crosslinked insulation. |

And no, it is not suitable for this DC environment. Best option for stock and slightly modified carts is 4g welding cable, 400+ strand count. Crimp or solder, I don't care anymore, LOL. (it's a never-ending debate around here...) |

Yeah. I took the wire from a weatherhead. It doesn't have many strands. Thanks for the input gorno.
