Won't shift into gear!!
I have a 2008 ezgo sthl 4/6 gas cart. After recently getting it to run, it now wont shift into gear. It seems as if something inside the transmission ( ME29 ) is stuck. The reverse cable or stuck but even with the rocker on it won't budge. I managed to smash it into to gear but the wheels still wont spin. Clutches work perfectly. Am I missing something? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You are missing some hardware on one of the cables |

Re: Won't shift into gear!!
I will try it. It just seems like it stuck from the inside. I just soak it in wd or PB blaster and see if it will free up. Definitely getting new cables and linkage stuff. Is there a neutral lock out I dont know about?

Yes, pull the thing right next to the stud without a spring and nut, in your first picture. One way is for towing, the other for running :) down da road :) |

Re: Won't shift into gear!!
Yea they are pull-pull cables so having both working is a must you can move the linkage by hand but kinda hard
Not much leverage |

Re: Won't shift into gear!!
Try removing both cables from the shifter and try putting in gear by hand. If that works, then one or both cables are seized and need replacing. As already stated, the cables both work by pulling in opposition to each other and if one is seized, neither cable can operate the shifter properly.

Re: Won't shift into gear!!
thanks for the tip and the manual page about the neutral lock on the shifter. It fixed a cart for a friend that wouldn't shift, imagine that. Thanks again.
