snapped bolt on oil filter
I have the TXT with the three bolt oil filter, I snapped the bottom bolt off, it doesn't appear to be leaking yet. I put a small set of vise grips on it to help hold it tight? how can I get that bolt out?

I have a set like this that I picked up years ago from the mac truck, works great. Half the time the left handed drill bit will pull out the screw without needing the ez-out bit. I can't say anything 100% about this brand, maybe someone else here has tried it, but I'm sure it's fine. Lowes or home depot may have the Irwin brand version of this set too. If this doesnt work (which it usually will as long as it's not cross threaded in there real bad) your only other choice would be to drill it out and tap it. |

+1 to what CP241 said.
A screw extractor kit is your best option. It not, drill and tap it. |

Re: snapped bolt on oil filter
Before you drill it make sure you center punch it "dead center"

Re: snapped bolt on oil filter
As Steve said make sure 100% you drill directly in the center. That is a 6mm bolt with a 10mm head.
Not sure you can drill it straight in the cart. Make sure you can get to it. I have an angle drill I use for those hard to get to places. I have been able to remove 100's of broke off bolts in my lifetime. You get in a hurry then you mess up. I doubt it bottomed out unless you put a bolt in that was too long. A left hand drill bit will probably get it right out. It is probably not going to be tight so it should be easy. Bottom one out then you are in trouble |
