Default 87 ezgo toast?

Have been trying to get my 87 running. New carb, pump, plug and went through the wiring. Decided to pull the jug and found a surprise.

Will it be salvageable with a top end rebuild? Anyone sell a master rebuild?

You should split the case just to find the pieces that are missing. There are small particles contaminating the bearings.

After looking at your pictures on a real screen, and not my phone, it's worse than I thought. You cracked a steel cylinder. It looks like a bomb went off in there. I would split the case just to inspect the halves for damage. This is a link to just a top end. https://www.ecartparts.com/overhaul-...ycle-gas-80-88 I don't see Golf Cart King listed as a sponsor anymore, so I won't link to them. They and vintage golf cart parts sell entire rebuild kits with bearings, and crankshafts if you need them. I'm sure others do too.

You definitely need the top end. If it was me, I would change the crankshaft bearings at a minimum. And only a fool would take it that far apart, and not change the seals too.

Grab the rod. See if it moves up, and down. That would be a bad thing. Side to side is ok. If the rod is sloppy, that requires an entire crankshaft. The pdf is your manual. The only difference is that your cart has an extra microswitch located at the lower passenger side of the FnR switch.

Put new parts in after cleaning everything good. Crankcase was actually spotless, looked like new. Bearings were clean and free. Seals were popped so they got replaced as well.

Cart is running and moves pretty well.

Replacing the drive clutch this week as the old one is sticking and wore out.
