98 TXT poor acceleration and top speed.
Hello all from Lansing MI. I have a 98 TXT with the 295. Six inch lift with 23 inch tires. When it's sitting neutral the engine will Rev up just fine. As soon as I try to drive it it will not Rev. I've had this for a year now it has always been some what of a dog. It has gotten worse.
Here is what I have done. New plugs New carb New fuel pump New air filter Oil change New drive belt New charging belt Compression check each cylinder reads at 170-175 psi. Valves adjusted to 004 Thank you in advance for any advice. |

Looks like you've done 'bout everything a guy could do to fix it. Have you checked all the linkage when you put it in gear to make sure it's functioning as it should? Just a thought...

Try this, remove the drive belt. Grab both sheaves on the driven clutch and twist them apart. Let go, they should "snap" back closed hard.
