Default Adding Battery disconnect switch to gas golf cart

My 2017 EZGoO Gas S4 has many accessories on it. I want to install a battery disconnect switch to help save the battery life while it is not in use. Has anyone every installed one on a gas golf cart?

I haven't done it on any golf carts, but I had two different trucks that I did this to, it was very easy. On the trucks it required long battery cables to do the install, over 8 feet long. On a cart, it would be short.

You could do it with a kit with the quarter turn handle thingy or....even cooler....a hidden switch under the rocker panel Or maybe a golf ball in the ball holder could be the switch?

I'm running a Blue Sea 6006 battery switch on my 48 volt electric cart and am very happy with it.

If you are looking to run a switch to where you can access it from the drivers seat, this would be a good switch to use on your gas cart as well.

A battery mounted switch would work also but it would not be as convenient to use as driver mounted switch.

I've done a very simple screw type switch. It was like $7 on amazon. I turn it off at the end of the day to avoid battery drain and since the cart is old (new to me) I want to make sure there's no shorts I'm not aware of that cause a fire. At least until I feel super confident in the wiring harness.

I recently had a stuck solenoid on my diesel tractor. The starter was smoking before I managed to get the battery disconnected. It now has a knife blade disconnect. I think I will be getting one for the golf cart too. Talk about an eye opening experience.

I agree. I have also had a stuck solenoid on a diesel tractor. Burned my hand but I got it off in time.
Most high dollar boats have them. Not a bad idea on golf carts. I never leave carts in my shop without removing battery cables. That's just me but I don't want to come in the next day and have something roasted

Geez, you guys are scaring me.......

I know a guy that had of these on a sandrail but I thought it was mainly for a bit of security, he had it hidden behind the back seat. I will say it was fun to wait til he got all strapped in to go then one of us would sneak over and shut it off on him lol....

Think I'd go with this style if I was going to get one, could put it in the original key ignition hole on the firewall since I have a hidden ignition switch elsewhere
