Default Battery case Repair?

Have acquired a 2003 Club Car Turf 2 Carry all 4 x12v batteries all good but one of then has the top corner of the lid section loose and if tipped leaks solution. Is there a way to safely reseal the joint?? It is the top of the case about 1 inch each way from the corner. I'm thinking clean the joint and use silicone

Any thoughts?
Thanks

I would clean the case good, sand it lightly, then apply epoxy putty or JB Weld. Both will hold up much better than silicone. Silicone will not stick real well to the polypropelene battery case. The epoxy putty or JB Weld will hold up to the acid better and stay attached to the case better. You should be able to get either one at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Clean and use a tar on it.

I'd try some good RTV clear silicone after a good cleaning...

I used JB Waterweld (yes its called Waterweld) on a punctured battery case about a month ago and it worked awesome. Cures super hard and hasnt leaked a bit. It can be found at NAPA.

I've had mixed results repairing battery cases, but if this is above the liquid level, and if you TRY the silicone AND if it does not work, I bet you can clean it off completely and try the next thing.

Silicone does not stick well to the battery case material and will in time leak. If you do use silicone and then later try to use another product the chemical residue will sometimes cause other products to resist sticking also. The JB weld (or waterweld as the other poster used) or 2 part epoxy putty are your best bets. Long lasting repairs. Can even repair cracks or small holes below the acid line.
