OBC not allowing solenoid to actuate
I am a newbie so bear with me. I have a 1998 Club Car Serial#A9808-648676.
My symptoms are as follows. If I put it in forward, step on accelerator nothing. Actually if the rear wheels are off the ground the do move ever so slightly. I attribute this to the pre-charge resistor on the solenoid.. Right. So this is what I know I am not getting a ground (yellow wire from OBC) to actuate the solenoid. I assume this is the safety circuit to not allow the cart to operate when charging.?? I assume this because when I do plug the charger in the cart acts the same way. after searching the web and this forum, which is great by the way! I ran a temp wire to the negative coil on the solenoid to the #6 battery negative terminal. With this jumper installed cart runs great. I have tried the OBC reset as described on this forum several times. Am I missing something or can I assume i need an OBC. Thanks in advance for any assistance! Mike |

Re: OBC not allowing solenoid to actuate
One more note. I thought I might have disabled the OBC funtionality, but the charger still seems to work the same way. Goes through a self test shuts down then begins charge cycle. It it possible the only thing disabled is the "drive off with cord plugged in feature"??

Re: OBC not allowing solenoid to actuate
When you use that jumper wire you bypass the OBC.Your OBC is on lockout since you cant unhook the cables and reset it. This is an indication that your OBC is bad.

Re: OBC not allowing solenoid to actuate
Thanks Guys, I ran the charger through a full charge last night, and ran cart a couple miles today. I am going to have a hard time parting with the cash for a new OBC (couple hundred from what I have found) as long as this thing is working as it does now. Is my assumption that the yellow ground wire from the OBC to the solenoid is just a lockout feature to keep you from driving off with charger plugged in? thanks again!
